At the VIP dinner event hosted at JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi, Cloud 251’s founders actively engaged with venture capitalists and angel investors to secure funding for the company’s growth. During the pitch competition, Cloud 251 CEO, Tigest Damtie, presented the company’s solutions and highlighted its commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and convenient data hosting solutions in Ethiopia.
Tigest also unveiled Cloud 251’s vision of creating “One Cloud, One Customer, and One Africa,” emphasizing the company’s dedication to fostering digital unity and economic growth across the continent. She advocated for the extension of the African Free Trade Area’s Digital Trade Protocol, Article 21, to become a comprehensive General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for Africa. This would provide a strong legal framework for protecting data privacy and security, essential for building trust and confidence in digital transactions within the continent.
Following Ethiopia’s enactment of Personal Data Proclamation No.1321/2024, Cloud 251 sees a significant opportunity to offer cloud solutions to sectors that require secure data storage within the country. By leveraging the momentum created by this new proclamation, Cloud 251 aims to drive the adoption of fintech and digitalization in Ethiopia.
Cloud 251’s participation in the African Fintech Summit has provided a valuable platform to connect with industry peers from across the continent, fostering relationships and laying the groundwork for expanding its services beyond Ethiopia in the near future.
